Affiliate Marketing Tutorial: 1. Introduction to Affiliate Marketing
I first connected to The Internet in 1996 and I set up my first Website that year. From the start, I have been absorbed with the Web. I am still absorbed with it. What would I have done if it had not been for The Internet? I do not know. I'm glad I wasn't born fifty years earlier!
I feel strongly that anyone who enters the arena of the Web has a duty of care. The story of the Internet, the World Wide Web, and indeed the PC, is fascinating. People of idealism, scientific integrity and perseverance made progress with imagination, verve and many leaps of faith. In spite of an increasing commercialism on the Net, the spirit of co-operation survives in such organizations as The Open Source Movement (where code is freely shared) and in the help that can be found in Newsgroups and in other online ways. When we first enter the web, we inherit all this goodwill and we should do nothing to spoil the show. We can spoil the show in all sorts of ways - not least by spamming (sending out emails that were not requested) or by not showing the tolerance and respect that everyone joining the online world is entitled to.
This tutorial is meant for people like me who love The internet, who wish to help to organise it for others and who hope that they may be able to bring in a measure of remuneration by doing so.
I do not attempt to explain everything from first principles in this short look at Affiliate Marketing. But help abounds on The Internet and once we have an Internet connection and browser, we can learn how to do all the things that we will require such as writing web pages, loading them and so on.
Some of the links in this tutorial are affiliate links. In other words, I may earn a commission if you decide to buy a product or service that I recommend here. I take care only to recommend what I consider to be the most useful products or services. Please feel free not to buy any of my recommendations!
